How to Cope—Even Thrive—in a World Full of Bad News

Linda Blair

Are things out there truly worse than ever before?

If you read the news, consider the environment, listen to financial predictions, or talk to almost anyone about current events, it’s easy to think these really are the grimmest of times. Stress levels, we’re told, are soaring.

In response, the number of experts and influencers is growing daily. They encourage us to listen to them and take their advice. They can sort us out, so we’re told.

And yet…

Whether they’re aware of those experts and influencers or not, most people are still coping. Employees are still turning up for work. Students are still going to school, studying and taking exams. People are still starting and maintaining relationships, having babies, planning outings. Despite the stress, most of us keep going.

This blog is about how ordinary people are dealing with the threats and uncertainties we’re all facing today. You’ll learn the everyday coping strategies that get them through—strategies that can help you, too.

Each month I will choose something that’s helping some of the many people I’ve interviewed, people across a wide range of ages and backgrounds. I’ll tell you a bit about them and what’s worrying them, and describe one thing that allows them to keep going.  You’ll walk away with a specific strategy every month—one that’s already been tried and tested in real life, one that you can then try out for yourself.

I hope you’ll join us – and if you know of anyone else who would enjoy this site please forward a link.

Thanks.

Linda
